Hurricane Joaquin Relief

posted Oct 7, 2015, 3:33 PM by Christian Life Church   [ updated Oct 7, 2015, 3:33 PM ]

The severity of the impact of Hurricane Joaquin on our Southern Islands has caused dire conditions that many of our fellow Bahamians are faced with today. It is in these times of tragedy and despair that we as the church must offer more than prayer, we must show God's love in a practical way. Christian Life Church's Mission Mandate, the reason why we exist, is to: LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS & LIVE IT OUT!

We have already begun this process by sending non-perishable supplies to the islands this week. We know however, that we need to quickly expand our efforts to give support to as many islands and people that we can. To this end, we will be partnering with organizations such as the Red Cross to give financial and other assistance in their relief efforts throughout all the islands impacted, we will also utilize the church as a drop off point for non-perishable food items, water, insect repellant and cleaning supplies such as bleach.

We will also be taking up a special offering that will go toward assisting our brothers and sisters in need in these islands. We ask that you make a special effort to contribute to this effort through monetary donations and donations of much needed supplies. Let us put our faith into action! I am reminded of the passage of scripture in James 2:14-17:

"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?  if a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." (KJV)

On Sunday, October 11, we will have back home with us our own missionaries to Acklins, Kate & Eugene Williamson who will share briefly their experience in the midst of the storm as it ravaged that island.

I Love Sundays

Sundays can be the best of times—or they can be a waste of time. Sundays are meant to be the best day of the week, but it doesn’t always work out that way. What’s so special about Sundays, and how can they change people’s lives? Can changing your Sundays change your life? Investing in a weekly Sabbath experience can cause the very real benefits of a day of church and rest to overflow into every area of life—relationships, work, family, and finances. God wants Sunday to be the best day of your week and the Sunday worship service to be the best hour of your day.

We at Christian Life Church invite you to join us for a special sermon series, "I Love Sundays - Making Sunday the Best Day of Your Week" and find out how every area of your life can be better by making the strategic decision to invest in a weekly Sunday church experience. You may not love Sundays yet or maybe you’ve always loved them, but this series will help you discover how to make the most of every Sunday of your life. The series continues October 4, 2015 with a 9 a.m. Connection Time and a 10:00 a.m. Celebration Service each Sunday.

Friend Sunday

Be a Friend—Bring a Friend!

When life gets too busy—with work, children's activities, even church—it's easy to let relationships take a back seat. But friends are an important part of our lives, and having a supporting group of friends can make life's challenges easier. Even Jesus had twelve friends with whom He did life together! How about you? Do you have great friends or just great acquaintances?

Learn how to be a better friend and build deeper relationships on March 15, 2015 during Friend Sunday! This special service is dedicated to welcoming friends to our church, celebrating friendships, and discovering what it means to be a true friend.

We will be taking time to learn about various kinds of friendships that can help carry us through life’s trials, celebrate life’s joys, and make life’s journey more meaningful. So invite someone to come with you—it's the friendly thing to do!

Pray First

posted Jan 14, 2015, 8:42 AM by Christian Life Church   [ updated Jan 14, 2015, 9:30 AM ]

"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (KJV)

This is our time of Prayer, Consecration and Preparation for our Kingdom Assignment in 2015.  Join us Wednesday evenings at 7:30 for our United Prayer Gatherings.  Our Rally Cry during this time is "Pray First."  That is, Prayer should be our First Response not our Last Resort, First Choice not Last Chance.

In other words before we get on our computers we Pray First.  Before we start Facebook we Pray First.  Before we send that email, we Pray First.  Before we have that first appointment we Pray First. Before we eat, we Pray First.  Pray First.  Pray First.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

Time of Prayer

posted Jan 6, 2015, 8:30 AM by Christian Life Church   [ updated Jan 6, 2015, 8:30 AM ]

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)

God's promises are almost always premised on a condition. "If" is a conditional word. If we meet the condition, God will fulfill the promise. The condition is first, and then the manifested promise comes second. Whatsoever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven (Matt. 16:19, 18:18). Do you see how action on earth precipitates action in heaven? Something happens when we pray, so Christian Life Church has set aside 21 Days of Prayer and Consecration to begin 2015, January 5th-25th.

There is something even more powerful than our personal prayers, it is our cooperate prayers. At Christian Life, we will be meeting together on Wednesdays at 7:30pm, January 7th, 14th, and 21st. One of us can chase a thousand to flight, two of us can chase ten thousand to flight (Deut. 32:30). On the day of Pentecost, "…they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house…" (Acts 2:1-2 KJV).

It was a sound from heaven. Christian Life Church needs to hear from heaven, not from the talk shows, not from the daily newspaper, not even from the politicians but from heaven. If we humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways, God said He will give us three things: 1) a Hearing - then will I hear from heaven, 2) a Helping - I will forgive your sins, and 3) a Healing - I will heal your land.

"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you." Hosea 10:12 (KJV)
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)
"…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16b (KJV)

21 Day Fast

posted Jan 6, 2015, 8:27 AM by Christian Life Church   [ updated Jan 6, 2015, 8:27 AM ]

During our time of prayer and consecration, Christian Life Church is doing a "no meats and no sweets" fast January 5th-25th.  What can we expect from fasting?
  • It will strengthen prayer (Ezra 8:23; Nehemiah 1:4; Daniel 9:3; Joel 2:12; Acts 13:3). Read the entire chapter of Isaiah 58. Verse 8 says, "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward" (KJV).
  • It assists us in seeking God's guidance (Judges 20:26-28; Acts 14:23).
  • It sometimes can be an expression of grief (1 Samuel 31:13; 2 Samuel 1:11-12).
  • It helps to gain deliverance or protection (2 Chronicles 20:3-4; Ezra 8:21-23; Esther 4:16).
  • One may fast to express repentance and the return to God (Joel 2:12; Jonah 3:5-8).
  • It is used to humble ourselves before God (1 Kings 21:27-29; Psalm 35:13).
  • It is used to express concern and facilitate the work of the Kingdom of God (Nehemiah 1:3-4; Daniel 9:3).

Prayer & Consecration

posted Jan 6, 2015, 8:26 AM by Christian Life Church   [ updated Jan 6, 2015, 8:26 AM ]

During the month of January, Christian Life Church will be experiencing a time of consecration with prayer and fasting. Weekly prayer meetings will be Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.  You are also invited to join us for a 21-day fast from January 5th-25th.  The fast is simply no meats and no sweets for the 21 days.

Our time of consecration to begin the year here at Christian Life Church is a set time in which we are preparing ourselves spiritually.  It is like a tithe in giving God the first month and believing that He will bless the rest and that our consecration and commitment will produce a blessed and prosperous 2015.

Join us as we seek God's direction and renew our dedication to Him in this new year.  Everyone is invited to participate at whatever level is best for them. If you cannot engage in a food fast for health reasons, consider fasting in some other area, such as television or computer use. We look forward to seeing you at Christian Life Church!
